Hospital charges Associated Hospitals Victoria Jubilee Hospital was built in 1891 to commemorate the 55th year of the reign of Queen Victoria. This hospital was attached to the Medical school for giving clinical training to the students in 1920. The medical school was later upgraded to Medical College in 1943 and the hospital was renamed as Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Amritsar in 1975 as a mark of respect to commemorate the martyrdom of the 9th Sikh Guru . At present, The Deptt. Of Obstetrics & Gynecology is located in this complex comprising of more than 10 acres of prime land in the heart of the city. A special ward having 12 rooms with attached toilets and bathroom is located in the hospital. Blood Bank is also situated near this complex. The foundation stone of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital was laid by His Excellency Mr. D.C. Pavte, the then Governor of Punjab in Nov, 1969, on the occasion of 500th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev. It was completed in 1974 on 114 acre of land adjacent to the Medical College. A spacious OPD complex, Emergency, Specialty of Medicine, Surgery and superspecialities viz Nephrology, Cardiology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Neurology, Cardiothoracic Surgery are housed in this complex. An ultra modern operation theatre complex, ICU, ICCU, Clinical Laboratory, Radiology, Sonography, Deaddiction and mental health facilities, blood transfusion & blood component separation unit are also available. In 1954, the Departments of Eye and ENT were constructed on Majitha Road in a separate complex known as Ram Lal Eye & ENT Hospital. The outdoor and indoor patient departments and Operation Theaters are located in this complex. A separate hospital for children was established in 1960, which consists of outdoors and in patients department and facilities for comprehensive care for children including neonatal and paediatric intensive care units. A separate hospital for TB & Chest diseases with bed strength of 255, OPD, Laboratory and X Ray facility was donated by a philanthropist and is located in a separate campus. A batch of 150 MBBS students,40 BDS students , 50BSc (Nursing) students and 80-90 MD/MS students in about 20 specialties are trained every year. Training of paramedics, laboratory medicine and radiology is also inparted in this hospital. This institution provides tertiary care services and is also responsible for undertaking need based applied research. The hospital is actively involved in the implementation of national programs related to various specializations. At present 958 beds are available for teaching & training and 200 bedded emergency and super specialty block was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister in January 2008. It houses Administrative Block, Emergency Block, Ortho Ward and Operation Theatre, Special Ward, Cath Lab, CTU, Plastic Surgery, Urology Ward. |
